The annual Westlawn Charity Golf Day was held on Friday, 4 September at the Grafton District Golf Club with around 80 keen golfers battling the winds and dodging some of the local wildlife to help raise money for some of the less fortunate in our community.
For the past 12 years, Westlawn has been holding its annual charity golf event, raising in excess of $12,000 for local community groups such as Meals on Wheels and Grafton Community Bus.
The charity golf day has proven a big hit over the years with both competitive and social golfers alike.
The wind made conditions a little more difficult than in previous years but the players took the conditions in their stride. We even had a surprise visit from one of the course locals when a python made its way onto the fairway.
Congratulations to the Daily Examiner team, which included Westlawn ring-in Terry Marsh, for taking out this year’s event.
On Monday, 14 September, I was pleased to present a cheque for $1,100 to the manager of Grafton Meals on Wheels, Rhonda Raven.
Meals on Wheels is a vital service here in Grafton, providing many of our frail, elderly and disabled residents with not only nutritious home delivered meals, but just as importantly, a friendly face and some companionship as well.
